Don’t mention the C word

No…sorry….I’m going to have to mention two C words.

Christmas and COVID

I write this at time when we are in the midst of the COVID pandemic and facing a second wave with the likelihood of some form of lockdown as we head into autumn.

But Christmas will still be happening – it might be looking very different.  It’s unlikely we will be having big parties but, if we are lucky, perhaps a series of intimate celebrations will be on the cards or even just immediate family and close friends gathering at home.

Whatever the next few months bring, we know one thing, your kitchen will be at the heart of your celebrations this Christmas.  Food and drink are always central to festivities and now, more than ever, kitchens are a living space where all family life unfolds.

Could this be the year where you get to have the kitchen you’ve always dreamt of in time for Christmas?

I’d hazard a guess that you’re not going away anywhere, so this might be the perfect time to consider getting a bespoke kitchen made and fitted. After all, you could be spending a lot of time at home this winter so imagine the difference it could make to your lives.

If you are thinking of getting Dowers to create and install your new kitchen in time for Christmas, you need to get your skates on. We need to have your order in by mid Oct to start production. And we have limited availability.

To help you decide if you are ready to take the plunge and call us for a consultation, here’s an overview of the process behind our bespoke kitchen build and installation.

Inspiration and planning

We believe that creating your kitchen should be enjoyable. Have a think about the kitchen you want, the styles and colours you like. Seek inspiration in magazines and online – Instagram and Pinterest are great places to find ideas.

Make a list of your must haves – that island or larder you’ve always lusted after, and your must have-nots – wasted space above wall cupboards or deep inaccessible corner units. Think about the appliances, work-tops and lighting.

Then give us a call or come in and see us in our Liss showroom.

Don’t worry if you haven’t got a clear picture in mind. At Dowers we like to get to know you. We take your through a series of questions so we can design the ultimate kitchen and living space for you that not only looks good but functions perfectly.  That includes any personal touches that are only possible with a bespoke handmade kitchen – from matching rounded benches to backless units to show off those original special walls, to making pan trays to accommodate the plumbing under sinks while making the most of the available space, or including something you have always dreamed of in your kitchen.

Site visit & quotation

From the initial ideas, we come and visit you in your home to take measurements and discuss the aesthetics and ergonomics. This enables us to create initial plans and a detailed quotation.

Showroom meeting, revisions and final quote

We want to make sure we have everything right, so we invite you to our showroom to discuss the plans and quotes. Once we have everything we need, and you are completely happy we finalise the design and make any adjustments to the quotation to enable you to place your order.  We carry out a final survey about one week before we start the build on the kitchen during November.

The magic happens

Just like Santa’s elves, we’ll be busy in our workshop, lovingly handcrafting your kitchen ready for installation early to mid-December. This gives you ample time to prepare for the festive season ahead and to get to grips with your new kitchen before you (hopefully) welcome guests to your home.

And if it all sounds overwhelming and you’re not sure where to start, remember we offer full project management of your new kitchen installation, from the design and build of the kitchen itself to the appliances, worktops, floors, walls, lighting and any electrical, plumbing or more major building works.

Make Christmas 2020 memorable for the right reasons by sharing valuable time with your family and friends in a kitchen that is truly unique to you. Give Guy a call now to discuss your ideas.

Remember – a Dowers Kitchen is for life not just for Christmas.
